The 2nd Grade team is a caring and committed group of teachers. A strong team, we meet frequently and consult with one another in order to offer the best possible learning environment for our students. Hamline University student helpers, an Educational Assistant, an ELL teacher plus a reading support specialist  | | at the Children's Museum |
all work together alongside the three classroom teachers to provide quality service for our 2nd grade students.
We are able to provide small group instruction in math, reading, and writing. We follow the Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop model which offers daily practice in reading and writing and allows children  | | performance |
to work independently at their individual levels. Throughout the year students publish a personal narrative, a “how to” project, a picture book, and a nonfiction report.
We take annual field trips to the Children’s Museum, the Children’s Theatre and the Como Planetarium.
