My name is Ron Woodbury. I teach Physical Education at Hancock/Hamline Collaborative Magnet School to grades 1-6. I enjoy teaching students how to move and exercise through a variety of activities and sports. I love to teach the skills involved in both team and life time athletics. I believe exercise should be fun as well as strenuous. I also believe that part of my job is to teach children how to organize and play on their own.
I'm a life time St. Paulite. I grew up just six blocks from Hancock, attended Galtier Elementary, Wilson Junior High and graduated from Central Senior High School. I then received my B.A. degree from Hamline University. I started teaching in St. Paul in 1978. I participated in several sports in high school and college and have been active as a youth, high school and college coach over the years. Currently I coach football at Highland Park Senior High School.
Besides watching and coaching athletics, I enjoy playing golf, small building and remodeling jobs, traveling and spending time with my family. My family consists of my wonderful wife, four terrific daughters and two fabulous grandchildren.

The Physical Education program at HHCMS is designed to develop skills, fitness, teamwork and promote a healthy lifestyle through a variety of games and activities. While having fun is an important goal in the physical development of our students, learning how to work hard and strive to reach higher and farther is also stressed.

Students in the primary grades practice basic movements and spatial awareness while participating in activities that include a horizontal climbing wall, obstacle courses, tumbling, rhythms and a number of group games which help develop positive social behavior.

The intermediate students develop skills and strategies through team activities that include soccer, volleyball, basketball and racquet sports. Specific team building activities, rhythms, dance and fitness training are also included in the curriculum.
