Orchestra Notes
The Hancock School Orchestra is open to any student in grades 4, 5 & 6 who wants to begin or continue studying violin or cello.  Lessons in groups of 4 to 10 students are held once each week for 30 minutes on Fridays and there is one large group Orchestra rehearsal once each Monday.
Please look for the letter that is being given to students on Friday September 25th and ask your child about the rotating lesson schedule.  The school does own some instruments that you may check out at no cost if it is difficult for you family to rent or purchase your own. However, due to a large interest in Orchestra, we are unable to provide violins for everyone.  We respectfully ask families to consider whether it might be possible to provide an instrument.  Information about various music stores and sources may be found on this site.

Beginners should buy the lesson book called Essential Elements 2000, Book 1
2nd & 3rd year Orchestra students do not need to buy additional books.
We will finish Book 1 and use other materials provided by school.

Best wishes for a great year!
