| Welcome to Mrs. Walsh's Sixth Grade Class!! | | | | Mrs. Walsh |
I have been teaching for 18 years. I have taught grades 1-6 in
different capacities. I love all grades, but I've found sixth graders
to be exciting to work with because they're able to understand the
world with a little deeper thought than students at earlier grades.
Sixth graders are awesome!!
I teach all subjects to my classroom. We learn about ancient
civilizations in Social Studies and through our Reader's Workshop. In
Reader's Workshop the students will be reading books at their own level
and working hard to become sixth grade readers and above. The students
will also be writing during our Writer's Workshop where they will write
at their own developmental level producing projects such as a poetry
anthology, doing research about a topic of their choice, writing a
story about their own life, and many more exciting writing projects. We
will also incorporate the Science Standards into our classroom this
year through fun hands on projects.
The students will work together in pairs and in groups throughout the
year. We use Responsive Classroom techniques to help all children feel
respected, cared for, and able to resolve conflicts peacefully.
This is an exciting year for students and I love getting to know each
and everyone of my students. Stop by for a visit anytime.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kathleen Walsh
